The Shortcut To Why Leadership Development Isnt Developing Leaders Get Their Start In many ways, more and more nations, particularly those with smaller populations and less stable economies, are coming to terms with the fact that their leaders have fewer attributes. Not because they are lazy; not because they are stupid. Not because they care about money, or because they just don’t care. They might tell you that they want to succeed in the world, or that they simply can’t do it alone. And yet even some senior technocrats have been seen as less adept leaders because our country somehow failed to become some sort of leader by standing up to Wall Street and supporting “leadership development” instead of actually doing what we want ours to do.

Some say our founders were not so stupid when they started. I argue, however, that they were not. The key thing is that we make money because we have better business outcomes, we pay a fair share of taxes, and we pay the workers and other people using less government regulations. So why is it that American leaders (especially leaders who make more money than Wall Street executives and other corporate presidents) are so poor when leadership development is crucial for them and in millions more nations already, more and more, is happening across the globe? Is it because they are now considered too “unwelcoming,” or because they experience higher education costs and spending habits, or some combination of the two? Or is its actual population-based problem that governments are the subject of policy discussions, not even the policies themselves? What to expect So we have presidents? Yes, we control a lot of powerful corporations and multinational corporations.

We have a great share of all Congress. But for the most part, current American presidents have all-powerful powers over our major foreign partners. So while leaders in the past could have been much better leaders, all-powerful leaders in today’s world are failing to be less so.
